about

What began as a few singles eventually became the ten tracks that make up the band’s second full-length album Utopia.

Despite its seemingly lofty title, "Utopia" is not an exploration of what makes a perfect society. Rather, the music considers the ways in which we all seek to find happiness, both in others and in ourselves.

The album explores these themes through the story of a pandemic-fueled love affair. Opening with “match,” the band wastes no time welcoming you to the party with a raucous disco track complete with crowd chants and even a sax solo. This thrilling but uncertain feeling continues through Side A, recounting the highs of the affair (despite an ominous and growing sense of doubt), concluding with the evocatively titled “serotonin” as a punctuation of this euphoria. Side B, by contrast, explores the slow unraveling of the same feelings, eschewing bright guitars and disco beats for pulsing synths and drum machines. The album concludes with the haunting and beautiful “apartment” which takes its own sonic journey to end the story.

Both abstract and relatable, Utopia is the band fully realizing its sonic and lyrical potential.
